Testing Technology Update; ISTA’s 4AB Enhanced Simulation

The general principles of sustainability entail reduction of packaging materials and associated energies. Implementing these socially responsible methodologies comes with a certain amount of risk. By using recyclable, renewable, or reduced amounts of packaging material will the package performance be compromised such that product damage increases? This presentation highlights the International Safe Transit Association’s project 4AB, a web-based software application which generates Enhanced Simulation test plans. Each 4AB test plan is uniquely tailored to simulate a specific distribution sequence for a particular packaged-product. Distribution testing performed in accordance with Project 4AB provides “Just Right” predictive assurance that a packaged product will survive transport; nothing more, nothing less. This presentation will provide an on-line demonstration of ISTA’s 4AB application, creating a tailored laboratory test plan that’s reflective of specific, quantifiable environmental hazards.
